Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of 59finance, a personal finance and bill-tracking service. Please read them before you create an account.

Effective 20 August 2026 · Last updated 20 August 2026

59finance is for people aged 18 and over only.

By creating or using an account you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you must not use the service. If we learn that an account belongs to anyone under 18, we will terminate it immediately, without notice, and you will lose access to the account, the data stored in it, unused tokens and any related history.

Your financial information is yours.

We never sell your personal information. The only information we may licence commercially is anonymised, aggregated statistics — patterns from many people, with nothing that identifies you. See section 6.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of 59finance (“we”, “us”, “our”). They apply to the website, application and related services we provide (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of someone else, you confirm you have authority to bind them to these Terms, and “you” includes that person.

2. Eligibility and minimum age

The Service is offered only to individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly provide the Service to children or to anyone under 18.

When you register you must:

  • provide an accurate date of birth;
  • confirm that you are 18 or older; and
  • accept these Terms.

You must not create an account, or allow anyone else to create an account for you, if you are under 18. You must not give a false date of birth or otherwise try to bypass this requirement.

If we believe, or later discover, that you are under 18, we will terminate your account. Termination in that case is immediate. We may delete or restrict the associated data. We are not obliged to provide a warning, a copy of your data, a refund of unused tokens, or restoration of the account. If you believe an account was terminated in error, you may contact us using the details in section 16.

3. What the service is — and is not

59finance is a manual personal finance and bill-tracking tool. It is designed so you can see what you owe, what is coming up, what you have spent, and where your money goes.

Depending on which features are enabled, the Service may let you:

  • create an account and manage your profile, password, currency, timezone and month-start preferences;
  • record one-off expenses and custom categories;
  • set up recurring bills and review scheduled occurrences on a pay list and calendar;
  • mark bills paid, unpaid or skipped (marking paid can record a linked expense);
  • track income sources and a monthly overview of income, bills, spending and remaining planned amounts;
  • set category or overall budgets and receive in-app alerts when they are approaching or exceeded;
  • record loans, credit cards, vehicles, savings pots, stock holdings and retirement plans you enter yourself;
  • view analytics, monthly reports and download CSV exports of your data;
  • receive in-app notifications about bills and budgets;
  • buy tokens and, where enabled, generate AI insights from the numbers you have entered.

The Service is not:

  • a bank, payment institution, e-money issuer, credit broker or lender;
  • an open-banking or account-information service — we never ask for a bank login and we do not connect to your bank;
  • a brokerage, investment platform or insurance product;
  • tax, accounting, insolvency or regulated financial advice;
  • a guarantee that bills will be paid, debts will be cleared, or figures will match a real-world statement.

You enter the numbers. We store and calculate from what you type. If a figure is wrong, incomplete or out of date, the picture we show you will be too.

Core tracking is intended to work without buying tokens. Tokens are used for optional extras such as AI insights, as described in section 8.

4. Your account

You need an account to use most of the Service. You must provide a name, a working email address, a password of at least eight characters, a date of birth, and a display currency. You must keep that information accurate.

You are responsible for your password and for activity on your account. Do not share your login. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it. We may rate-limit sign-in attempts and keep audit records of security-sensitive events.

We may pause new registrations from time to time. Existing accounts can still sign in when sign-ups are paused.

You may update your profile, password and preferences, and you may delete your account from Settings after confirming with your password. Deletion removes access immediately. Export anything you need from Reports before you delete. We may retain limited records where we must (for example payment, fraud-prevention or audit records).

5. Your information

You retain whatever rights you already have in the financial details you enter (bills, spending, income, debts, cards, vehicles, savings, holdings, retirement plans and similar). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, display, back up and calculate from that information to operate the Service for you — including generating occurrences, overviews, charts, reports, notifications, exports and, if you request them, AI insights — and to create aggregated and anonymised insights as described in section 6.

We collect and process information such as:

  • account details (name, email, password hash, date of birth, currency, timezone, preferences);
  • the financial records you create;
  • token balances, an immutable token ledger, and order/payment records;
  • session, device and security data (for example IP address, user agent, login attempts);
  • audit logs of important account and billing actions;
  • records that you accepted these Terms.

Date of birth is collected to enforce the 18+ eligibility rule in section 2. We may also convert it into a broad age band for the aggregated statistics described in section 6. We do not use it to publish your individual age.

You can download CSV copies of many of your records from Reports. Figures shown in another currency may use recent exchange rates and are estimates only.

Do not enter information you are not allowed to share, or information about other people unless you have the right to do so.

6. Personal records and market insights

We never sell your personal information. We may create commercial value from anonymised, aggregated statistics — patterns across many users that cannot reasonably identify you. This section is not a licence to sell your name, your email, your household’s bills, or any other information that is about you as a person.

We never sell personal information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, your account, or a list of identifiable users. That includes, without limitation:

  • your name, email address, login details or password;
  • your date of birth as an individual identifier;
  • your individual bills, expenses, income, debts, cards, vehicles, savings, holdings, retirement plans or other account-level records;
  • a profile that could reasonably be used to single you out;
  • bank logins, account numbers, sort codes or payment-card numbers — we do not ask for a bank connection, and we do not sell those details;
  • images, receipts or other files you may upload, or personal details that happen to appear in them.

Removing a name does not, by itself, make financial information anonymous. Information that could still reasonably identify you — including pseudonymised records that can be matched back to you using other data — remains personal data. We will not sell that information.

Aggregated and anonymised information

We may create aggregated and anonymised information from data collected through the Service. That may include statistical information about spending patterns, bill and expense categories, financial behaviours, and broad groupings such as age bands or geographic regions where we have them.

Where information is genuinely anonymised so that individuals are no longer identifiable, it is no longer personal information. We may use that kind of statistic to run and improve the Service, for research, and as a commercial market-insight product (for example figures that research firms, retailers, financial-services firms or public-policy researchers might licence). That is the only data we may sell or licence: non-identifying patterns, never a person.

That means we might share something like:

  • “Among users aged 30–39, median monthly grocery spending is £X.”
  • “Average reported rent in a region, where the group is large enough to publish.”

It does not mean we share something like:

  • “This named 32-year-old has £14,283 of outstanding loans.”
  • A list of people in an age band who spend more than a given amount on groceries.

A commercial insights product must not be able to answer questions about a single person. We will only use or share a statistic where the group is large enough that we reasonably consider an individual cannot be identified from it. We do not provide datasets that can be queried for a named person or for a list of identifiable users.

What we do not infer for sale

We do not collect, and we do not build commercial products that infer, special-category characteristics such as race or ethnicity, religion, health, sexual orientation or political opinions — including by trying to guess those things from spending. Age bands and (where you have given them) general location bands are not used that way.

Companies that help us run the Service

Running the Service requires a small number of suppliers — for example a host for the servers, a payment processor if you buy tokens, and (only if you generate an AI insight) an AI provider. Those companies may need to process some personal information so the product works: storing your account, taking a payment, or producing an insight you asked for. They may use that information only to provide their service to us, under contract and security protections, and they are not permitted to sell it.

That is not a sale by us, and it is not a market-insights product. We do not give these suppliers your records so they can market to you or build their own profiles of you.

7. Estimates, not financial advice

Payoff dates, utilisation bars, budget progress, remaining-this-month figures, stock gain/loss, vehicle running costs, analytics, reports and AI summaries are estimates based on the data you enter. They are not promises, forecasts you can rely on, or regulated financial advice.

Stock values are whatever you type. We do not pull live market prices. Savings and ISA pots are trackers, not actual bank or tax-wrapper accounts. Credit-card and loan maths use the balances, rates and payments you supply.

Nothing in the Service is an offer, solicitation or recommendation to borrow, invest, buy, sell or hold any product. If you need advice, speak to a suitably authorised adviser.

8. Tokens and payments

Tokens are a prepaid digital credit used inside 59finance for optional features (currently including AI insights where that feature is enabled). Tokens have no cash value outside the Service, are not e-money, and are not transferable to another person.

Token packages (for example Starter, Popular and Pro) and prices are shown at purchase time and may change. A welcome bonus may be granted when you first register; bonuses can be withdrawn or changed.

When you buy tokens we create an order. Tokens are added to your ledger only after we confirm payment on our servers (including via our payment provider’s webhook). We do not grant purchased tokens just because a checkout page says payment succeeded. Fulfilment is recorded against the order so the same payment cannot credit you twice.

Payments may be processed by Stripe or another provider we appoint. Their terms also apply to the payment itself. If payment credentials are not configured, the Service may run a simulated checkout for testing; simulated purchases are not real charges.

Generating an AI insight consumes a stated number of tokens (the amount is shown before you confirm). Consumed tokens are not returned if you dislike the result or if the underlying numbers were incomplete.

Unless consumer law in your country says otherwise, token purchases are non-refundable once the order is fulfilled. If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a digital-content purchase within 14 days; that right is lost once we have begun supplying the tokens to your account with your agreement. Unused tokens are forfeited if your account is deleted or terminated, including termination because you are under 18.

9. AI insights

Where AI insights are available, they are optional, token-gated, plain-language summaries of your own entered data — for example month-over-month change, the share of income going to commitments, or upcoming payment pressure.

They are estimates, not advice, and they may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. We may use a third-party model to produce them. Do not include secrets you would not want processed for that purpose.

We may pause, change or withdraw AI features, including by a feature flag, without ending the rest of the Service.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service if you are under 18, or help someone under 18 to do so;
  • provide false registration details, including a false date of birth;
  • attempt to access another person’s account or data;
  • probe, scrape, overload or interfere with the Service, or bypass security, rate limits or payment checks;
  • use the Service for fraud, money laundering, or any unlawful purpose;
  • upload malware or content that is illegal or that infringes someone else’s rights;
  • misrepresent 59finance as a bank, adviser, or as affiliated with any brand whose logo appears for identification;
  • resell, reverse engineer or copy the Service except as the law allows.

Brand marks and merchant names shown in the Service (for example on bills or cards) are for identification only. They belong to their owners. We are not endorsed by those owners.

11. Intellectual property

We and our licensors own the Service: the software, design, trademarks (including “59finance” and the “59” mark), layout and documentation. Aggregated and anonymised insights we create from the Service, as described in section 6, are also ours. These Terms do not transfer that ownership.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service as intended, while your account is in good standing.

12. Availability, features and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may change, suspend or withdraw features (including budgets, AI insights or sign-ups) for maintenance, security, legal or product reasons.

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. If a change is material, we will try to give reasonable notice (for example in the product or by email). Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings.

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:

  • you are, or we reasonably believe you are, under 18;
  • you breach these Terms, including by giving a false date of birth;
  • we must do so for security, legal or fraud-prevention reasons;
  • we discontinue the Service.

Under-18 accounts are terminated, not merely warned. After termination you will not be able to sign in. We may refuse a new account from the same person.

On termination or deletion, your licence to use the Service ends. Sections that should reasonably survive (including eligibility, personal records and market insights, intellectual property, liability, tokens already consumed, and governing law) continue to apply.

14. Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We are not liable for decisions you make using the Service, for bills you miss, for debts that cost more than an estimate suggested, for market moves, or for third-party services (including payment processors and AI providers).

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for tokens in the 12 months before the claim and (b) £50.

You will indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our own unlawful conduct.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also bring a claim in the courts of your place of residence where the law gives you that right.

If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them as part of a reorganisation or sale of the Service.

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. They replace any earlier understandings on the same subject.

16. Contact

Questions about these Terms, or about an account terminated under the age rule, can be sent to [email protected].
